In the fourth day of Sussex’s tie against Leicestershire, Smith caught the ball in the second slip with a terrific one-handed strike and removed Rehan Ahmed for 9 points in the second inning.

Smith scored 3 (14) points in his only game against Leicestershire, trapping LBW seamer Vian Mulder with a serve that slipped past the inside edge of the player’s right hand.

The match ended in a draw after Rishi Patel (100) and Vian Mulder (102 not out) prevented Sussex from breaking away.
