WATCH: Louis Kimber suspended for obstructing the field in the county championship game

Rule 37.1.2 of the law states: An outfielder is removed for obstruction of the field if … while receiving a ball delivered by the bowler, he/she intentionally strikes the ball with a hand not holding the bat. This applies to the first strike as well as the second or subsequent strike. The effect of receiving the ball extends to both playing with the ball and striking the ball more than once while defending one’s wicket.

Kimber joined a select list of cricketers who have been so removed, including Ramiz Raja, Mohinder Amarnath, Inzamam-ul-Haq and Ben Stokes.
