The first phase of stadium upgrades will cover World Cup venues
The board of directors has planned a major renovation of stadiums across the country, as most lack basic amenities.
According to the announcement, 10 World Cup stadiums will be upgraded first and the rest will be renovated in a second phase.
The first phase will upgrade the venues for the 2023 ICC Men’s Cricket World Cup, with work to be completed before the World Cup begins. The remaining venues will be upgraded in the second phase, the BCCI added.
The 50-over Cricket World Cup will be held in India from October 5 to November 19.
Matches will be held in Delhi, Dharamsala, Hyderabad, Chennai, Mumbai, Pune, Kolkata, Hyderabad, Lucknow and Ahmedabad. There will be warm-up games in Guwahati and Thiruvananthapuram.
