The BCCI selection committee has asked the board to hold more tours in India A, and players from the periphery will be tried out there before being taken to the senior India team. The BCCI is in talks with several councils to hold A tours.

Shubman Gill is the only player in this group who is currently a regular in Test matches, regardless of conditions or venue. The group of batters, which includes Sanju Samson and Ishaan Kishan as two substitute players, is expected to attack the bowling from the first ball.
