It’s amazing how Rishabh Pant’s influence has changed the mentality of India’s keeper-batsmen: Adam Gilchrist

In his absence, K.L. Rahul will keep wickets and Ishan Kishan has a good chance of playing as a specialist batsman in the middle-order.

I think Rishabh has inspired many batters-cum-kipers around the world to play like that (like him). It’s admirable when a young man like that makes the kind of impact that Rishabh has made and others respond to him and play in the same positive manner, Gilchrist, who is in India on a promotional visit, told PTI.

Gilchrist was impressed with the way Kishan performed despite knowing that Rahul would be the first-choice keeper.

They (India) are well-staffed. They have a couple of options, obviously when KL was out through injury, Ishan Kishan took his chance and played really well and now they’re in the team together, so it’s a great chance to take the opportunity, said the man who won three World Cups with Australia.

What Gilchrist considers accoladesOne of the most important things is Keeshan’s ability to make himself play. to the selectors to keep him in the lineup.

Being positive and then getting the selectors to keep you in the team, so it looks like KL will be the one to keep wearing the gloves, but that doesn’t seem to stop Ishan Kishan from playing, he seems to be playing very well, carefree, attacking and dangerous, he explained.

A man who has played nearly 400 international matches in three formats, scored 15,000-plus runs and over 900 removals (catching and chipping) has nevertheless made a clear choice on four potential semi-finalists.

I think India and Pakistan can make the semifinals, Australia and England are two other teams, Gilchrist opined.

Gilchrist is hopeful that the five-time champions will do well in India, where they won the bilateral series 3-0 last time out.

Australia will learn many lessons from their actions in South Africa when the will come to India. with India, they have three games before the World Cup against India, so they will have a more complete squad and that might tell us a little bit about where they are at, so it’s hard to say who will win it (the World Cup), but I think there are four semi-finalists there. Adam Zampa was recently destroyed by Heinrich Klaasen during the ODIs in South Africa, conceding 113 and 70 for his wicket rate. But Gilchrist has full confidence in Zampa’s quality and his ability to recover.

Adam Zampa obviously suffered a bit in South Africa but here in India, different conditions, different pitches and he is a world class spin bowler and he has shown that, particularly in T20 cricket and now he will get his chance in the 50-over World Cup, Gilchrist said.

Australia will rely on their experienced players.

It’s a very experienced group and they’re going to use us and should use us.They have all this experience against batting teams all over the world and they play without fear, so it is a challenge for all bowlers how to face aggressive batting teams. There has been speculation that veteran David Warner could be promoted to the lower echelon, but the man who has been a very successful opener in short formats believes such a move could backfire.

He (Warner) looked very good in South Africa, I think he should play in the top order, there was talk of him playing in the middle order but I think he should be an opener, he said.

…and he (Warner) showed a couple of times in South Africa that he’s aggressive and dominant at the top of the order like he’s never been before, so I think he brings a lot of experience and a lot of confidence and I think he should play at the top of the order for Australia and if he plays really well, our opposition will be scared of him.t.
