Injury for England: James Anderson suffered a groin injury ahead of Ash

Anderson, 40, was forced off the field and has not taken part again in the last three games, which ended in a tie Sunday afternoon.

England is expected to announce its lineup for next week’s match against Ireland, and Anderson, who was scanned Saturday, will be examined closer to his scheduled time, the ECB said in a statement.

England are already without fastballer Ollie Stone because of a hamstring injury, and Jofra Archer’s hopes of taking part in the series remain uncertain after the 28-year-old returned early from the IPL this week to rest a nagging elbow injury.

England will face Ireland on June 1, after which the Ashes series will begin.
