India ready to win ODI World Cup: Kapil Dev

We can’t say we are the favorites right now, of course our team is very good. The heart says different, the mind says no, we have to work very hard. I know our team, I don’t know about other teams, so I would say it would be unfair of me to give an empty answer.

…as far as the Indian team is concerned, they are ready to play and win championships…they have to play passionately, have fun.

India prepared for the World Cup by winning the Asia Cup on Sunday. The win over tournament hosts Sri Lanka was thanks to the play of pacers who scored all 10 pucks, with Mohammed Siraj producing a magical 6 for 21 performance.

It’s great (to see Siraj play). I am so happy that now in all continents our fast bowlers are scoring all 10 pucks, that’s the cherry on the cake, said the captain of the 1983 World Cup-winning Indian team.

There was a time when we depended on spinners, now it’s a no, that’s why the strength of the team is so strong. comes so well.

Kapil, however, said that as a fan he would like to see a close match and not a one-sided final in Colombo.

…what fantastic cricket was played! As a cricketer I would like to see a lot of close matches, but as a player I would like to bowl them out for 30 and win. As a spectator it would probably be better to see few close matches. India have a number of fitness issues ahead of the World Cup as some key players including Axar Patel and Shreyas Iyer were injured during the Asia Cup.

While Axar is nursing a wrist injury and a minor left quadriceps tear, Iyer had back spasms and played only two matches at the continental tournament.

In any team, if two key players get injured, it takes a toll on the team’s fortunes. That is why luck is required, because if a key player gets injured, bThe balance in the team is broken, Kapil said.

Kapil also praised Indian player Shubhman Gill.

This is a young man we can look up to. He is the future of Indian cricket. Very proud that India has a player of this caliber, he said.

There is a debate over the team selection with some senior players like Shikhar Dhawan, Ravichandran Ashwin, Yuzvendra Chahal not making it to the World Cup bus.

Kapil, however, backed the selectors led by Ajit Agarkar in picking the best Indian team for the World Cup.

Those who are not in the team, what is the point of talking about them. Everyone has their own opinion. The selectors are better people than us because they put their heads together and pick the best team.

The selectors do their job. Leave them alone. It’s easy to point out the numbers. Kapil, who is also vice-president of the Professional Golf Tour of India (PGTI), was present at the Openand the J&K Open golf tournament.

The Rs 50 lakh tournament, presented by J&K Tourism, will feature India’s top professionals.Professionals like Udayan Mane, Rashid Khan, champion Yuvraj Singh Sandhu and former champion Honi Baisoya are participating in the event.
