If you’re just going to entertain, it might as well be a circus: Jeffrey Boycott lashed out at Baseball England before the test at Lord’s

In a talk on the Vaughany and Tuffers Cricket Club podcast, Boycott said he liked the game of England cricket, but he thought they had deviated from the main goal of winning the game.

I liked cricket, it kept you in suspense, Fox Cricket quoted Boycott as saying.

England won every session, but they didn’t win the match and that should tell them something for the next Test. They lost sight of the fact that the goal is to win, and then if you want to have fun, yes, by all means.

But why can’t you win and have fun?

When you get ahead – which is what England did – they stopped thinking.

If you’re just going to entertain, it might as well be a circus. Just like that, go and become a professional circus around the world.

If you ask people in England: Do you want to win Ash, or do you want to be entertained and lose, I know what the answer will be.
