Ahead of World Cup trials, Ashwin warms up with economical game in TN clubhouse

Someone who has always been a dedicated club cricketer, even after becoming an international star, was not surprised when Ashwin appeared for Mylapore Recreational Club A against Young Stars Cricket Club at the SSN ground in the TNCA VAP Trophy match here on Tuesday. Ashwin’s

team, which was asked to play first, posted a total score of 285-7. Mukunt K (78) and Affan Khader M (79) were the top scorers while Ashwin scored 12 runs off 17 balls without hitting a single boundary.

In reply, Young Stars crushed the team by 257 runs in the 48th minute thanks to Diran VP’s 4:59 and Ashwin took one wicket off 30 balls in 10 overs and Mylapore Recreational won by 28 points.

Mylapore Recreational coach Guru Kedarnath praised Ashwin’s performance in this match: He is a world class player, no question about it. His control in today’s game was fantastic. India’s three ODIs against Australia will begin on Friday in Mohali, and then the two remaining matches – September 24 (Indore) and September 27 (Rajkot).
