After James Anderson, Ollie Robinson faced an injury problem before the Ashes

Sussex coach Paul Farbrace later reported: Ollie’s left ankle is sore and he will have a scan on Monday to see how bad he is. We knew he was sore yesterday.

We’ll find out what the problem is on Monday, Farbrace said.

It was a precautionary measure. There was no point in making things worse.

It’s more walking than running. He was fine when he went down the slope. He made it through.

It’s a joint decision between the Sussex medical team and the England medical team.

We really want him to bowl and strike out chips, but it’s not fair to him to compound the injury. That’s why there was a good conversation last night and this morning.

Robinson is included in England’s 15-man squad for the June 1 match against Ireland at Lord’s, James Anderson is also included in the squad despite recently suffering a mild groin sprain.

He is unlikely to take any chances against Ireland, given that the five-game series against the Australians begins in just two weeks.
