According to Erik ten Hag, Manchester United has yet to make progress in an attempt to regain its former glory

United, 12-time winners of the FA Cup, defeated Brighton & Hove Albion in the semifinals on penalties and will look to win their second trophy of the season after winning the League Cup in February.

The former Ajax Amsterdam manager took charge of the team last year and overcame a shaky start to end a six-year trophy drought.

Winning the FA Cup would complete the Dutchman’s impressive debut season at Old Trafford after leading his third-place team to Champions League qualification for next season.

Three-time European champions United failed to qualify for the Champions League last season.

I look at our opponents, but we look at ourselves and you have to see where you are as a club and from there you have to make progress and I think we did that last season, Ten Hague told reporters before Saturday’s match against City.

We’re in a good direction, and we have an opportunity in the summer to set new goals, new goals for the near future.

In the long term they will remain the same. I said last year that we want to rebuild United, but we have a long way to go.

City won their fifth league title in six seasons and will be driven by the chance to find sporting immortality in the pursuit of triumph.

But Ten Hague said they are focused on winning the trophy, not on preventing City from repeating United’s historic feat in 1999.

We want to win the cup, it’s not about stopping them, it’s about winning the cup. We have a great opportunity, Ten Hug said.

Ten Hag added that Brazilian winger Anthony, who was carried off the field with an injury during the 4-1 win over Chelsea, still has a chance, but it is unlikely to be available.

French striker Anthony Marcial is out due to a hamstring sprain, but Ten Hague said he is focused on winning with players available.
